The German government will contribute €30 million to the NSATU Trust Fund
In a parliamentary answer published today to questions by the parliamentary group AfD, the German government states that it will contribute €30 million to the UK-managed NSATU Trust Fund to meet Ukraine’s urgent equipment support and logistical needs.
Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development finances a new grant programme
The German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development finances a new grant programme of the IOM Ukraine to support Ukrainian entrepreneurs in the Sumy and Kyiv oblasts through the German state-owned development bank KfW.
This was announced by the Sumy Regional Military Administration on Telegram. Employers (micro & small businesses) receive up to $20,000 in funding for the creation of new jobs, through which the Ukrainian economy will be strengthened in the long run.
Germany increased this year’s military aid for Ukraine by around €1 billion
Today, the Federal Cabinet approved the second government draft for the 2025 federal budget. This was announced by the Federal Ministry of Finance on their website. The 2025 federal budget includes ~€8.26 billion for the German Enable & Enhance Initiative, through which most of Germany’s military support for Ukraine is being financed.
This means that Germany’s military assistance for Ukraine will increase by around €1 billion this year, but not by the €1.9 billion mentioned by the German Minister of Defence Boris Pistorius in Kyiv during his visit on the 12th of June.
Formal handover of drone detection systems
The Ukrainian Ministry of Internal Affairs announced on its website that during a visit by a German delegation to a Ukrainian exhibition of captured enemy equipment, the German Ambassador to Ukraine, Martin Jäger, formally handed over drone detection systems to the Ministry of Internal Affairs to protect critical infrastructure in Ukraine.
Federal Agency for Technical Relief hands over humanitarian aid
The German Federal Agency for Technical Relief (THW) has handed over a new batch of humanitarian aid worth almost €130,000 to utilities in the Zaporizhzhia Oblast. This was announced by the Zaporizhzhia Regional Military Administration via Telegram. Among other things, various generators, water leak detectors, sewage pumps, filters, and fire hoses were donated.
