Chancellor Scholz condemns the Russian attack on Sumy
The German Chancellor Olaf Scholz strongly condemns the recent Russian attack on Sumy in which over 110 people were either killed or wounded. In a message posted on X (formerly known as Twitter), Scholz also writes that such Russian attacks show the state of Russia’s alleged readiness for peace.
Two backhoe loaders for the Dolynska community and Oblvodokanal
Die Dolynska community and the utility company Oblvodokanal based in the Zaporizhzhia Oblast have received two backhoe loaders from the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) with funding from the German government. This was announced on Telegram.
Vehicles, drones, and speedboats handed over to the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine
During a visit by the German Ambassador to Ukraine Martin Jäger to the 10th Separate Operative Response Detachment Dozor of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, Ford Transit vehicles, Vector eVTOL UAVs and Boomeranger speedboats financed by Germany were handed over. This was announced by the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.
German Ministry of Defence announces new military aid package
The German MoD has announced a new military aid package to support Ukraine, which will be financed with the over €11 billion that were approved in March for the military support until 2029.
The package contains 4 IRIS-T SAM systems (SLM/SLS mixed), 300 missiles for IRIS-T SAM systems, 30 MIM-104 Patriot missiles, 300 reconnaissance drones, 120 MANPADS, 25 Marder 1A3 IFVs, 15 Leopard 1A5 MBTs, 14 artillery systems, 100 ground surveillance radars and ~ 100,000 155mm shells.
The German MoD also announced that further agreements are currently being made regarding the delivery of additional IRIS-T systems in the coming years. The delivery of 1100 ground surveillance radars is also on the cards.
Germany finances two backhoe loaders for the Kharkiv region
The German government has financed two backhoe loaders for the Kupyansk and Barvinkove hromadas in the Kharkiv region. According to Oleh Syniehubov, the special equipment will be used to carry out repair, restoration and auxiliary work on water supply and drainage networks.
Germany supports the establishment of a veterans’ space in Chernihiv
The NGO “Sertsevir” has opened a new veterans’ space in Chernihiv in partnership with UNDP Ukraine and the German government. The project was made possible thanks to a thematic grant totalling over 80,000 dollars.
The project was designed to support veterans and their families, as well as the families of the fallen and those reported missing. Among other goals and purposes, it aims to serve as a platform for engagement, knowledge exchange, and the provision of social, psychological, and legal assistance, while also encouraging civic participation.
