With so-called MedEvac flights, the German Air Force made a very important contribution to the transport of injured Ukrainian civilians and soldiers from Poland to Germany until June 2022. Since June 2022, Norway has taken over these flights for the Bundeswehr. The transported civilians and soldiers receive medical care in civilian and military hospitals in Germany.
The Federal Office of Civil Protection and Disaster Assistance receives these requests through the European Union Civil Protection Mechanism and organises the transfer of the patients to Germany.
