In the second week of February, during the visit of the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, not only were the bilateral security agreements signed and a new 1.13 billion military aid package made public, but the official German government list summarising Germany’s military assistance to Ukraine was also updated.

However, due to the extensive reporting on the new aid package and the bilateral security agreements, this did not appear on the radar for most people.

As usual, these are more or less substantial deliveries. The following deliveries of military equipment were made public.

  • 10 Vector UAVs
  • 30 RQ-35 Heidrun UAVs
  • 11 Primoco One 150 UAVs
  • 7 Songbird UAVs
  • 18 FFG APCs
  • 9 mine ploughs
  • 1 Pionierpanzer 2A1 Dachs AEVs
  • 3 WiSENT 1 MC mine clearing tanks
  • 4 border protection vehicles
  • 3,990 shells of 155 mm artillery ammunition
  • 500 faLKE light systems
  • IT equipment

Focus on drones

While the deliveries made public naturally also included other assistance such as armoured and logistical vehicles, the focus in the past two weeks appears to have been largely on drones.

Further Vector UAVs, RQ-35 Heidrun UAVs, Primoco One 150 UAVs and, for the first time, Songbird UAVs were delivered. This was the first delivery of yet another VTOL drone made in Germany. With the latest delivery of 11 Primoco One 150 UAVs, all deliveries of this type now announced have been completed.

The delivery of a total of 66 FFG APCs, which were first announced as such in June 2023, has now also been completed. These are BATT UMGs, which were marketed under a different name and offered and delivered by the German company FFG.

As already mentioned, logistical and technical vehicles were also delivered. The border guards received four new logistical vehicles, and a relatively rare 2A1 Dachs armoured engineer vehicle was also delivered to the army.
