The German drone manufacturer Quantum Systems announced in a press release this afternoon that they will double their production capacity in Ukraine over the course of this year.
According to Quantum Systems, this represents their unwavering commitment to provide the Ukrainian army with the state-of-the-art drone systems it needs right now.
Already since the beginning of the full-scale invasion by Russia in 2022, Quantum Systems has been closely involved in the defence of Ukraine, for example by providing a total of 448 high-end Vector eVTOL reconnaissance drones to the Ukrainian army, financed by the German government.
As things stand today, a further 122 Vector eVTOL UAVs will be delivered to Ukraine in the near future, while the Ukrainian military announced a demand for around 800 additional drone systems already nearly a year ago.
In order to meet this not only but primarily in Ukraine growing demand, Quantum Systems opened its Kyiv-based production facility back in April last year.
The opening ceremony was attended not only by the then Minister of Strategic Industries of Ukraine, Alexander Kamyshin, but also by the German Vice-Chancellor and Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Climate Action, Robert Habeck.

Although the German drone manufacturer did not provide any further details about the plans at the time of publication of this article, we know from a press release published last year that the overall annual production capacity should increase to up to 1,000 drones as a result of the production facility opened in Kyiv, with an investment volume of up to €6 million over two years.
A doubling of the production capacity in Ukraine is therefore likely to have a significant impact on the ability to provide the Ukrainian army with additional Vector eVTOL UAVs as quickly as possible.
A delegation from Quantum Systems under the leadership of Co-CEO Sven Kruck emphasised this fact yesterday at a meeting at the Munich Security Conference with Herman Smetanin, Minister of Strategic Industries of Ukraine and Ganna Gvozdiar, Deputy Minister of Strategic Industries of Ukraine.
Smetanin praised Quantum Systems as a good example of production localisation thanks to their R&D hub and production facility which both operate in Ukraine and thanked them for their courage and consistency in their work to strengthen the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
