Germany increased this year’s military aid for Ukraine by around \u20ac1 billion<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Today, the Federal Cabinet approved the second government draft for the 2025 federal budget. This was announced<\/a> by the Federal Ministry of Finance on their website. The 2025 federal budget includes ~\u20ac8.26 billion for the German Enable & Enhance Initiative, through which most of Germany’s military support for Ukraine is being financed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This means that Germany’s military assistance for Ukraine will increase by around \u20ac1 billion this year, but not by the \u20ac1.9 billion mentioned by the German Minister of Defence Boris Pistorius in Kyiv during his visit on the 12th of June.<\/p>\n\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n

At the end of a week-long visit by a large Ukrainian delegation to the German Federal Agency for Technical Relief (THW), they received 8 firefighting and rescue vehicles, 4 special vehicles as well as off-road vehicles, equipment, and tools. New nephrology and dialysis department in a children’s hospital financed<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

With extensive financial assistance from the German government, a new nephrology and dialysis department has been opened in the Okhmatdyt children’s hospital in Kyiv, which was badly damaged last year due to a Russian terrorist attack. This was announced<\/a> by the Ministry of Health of Ukraine on its website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to dozens of medical devices and furniture for lounges, treatment rooms and more, two water treatment systems, a fire protection system, ventilation and air conditioning systems, a medical lift for transporting patients in beds, the renovation of a surgery room and a powerful photovoltaic system to protect the department from power outages were also financed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The German government provided a total of \u20ac14 million following the Russian attack on the children’s hospital. A total of \u20ac4 million in emergency funds and \u20ac10 million for the reconstruction. German Ministry of Defence announces new military aid package<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The German MoD has announced a new military aid package to support Ukraine, which will be financed with the over \u20ac11 billion<\/a> that were approved in March for the military support until 2029.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The package contains 4 IRIS-T SAM systems (SLM\/SLS mixed), 300 missiles for IRIS-T SAM systems, 30 MIM-104 Patriot missiles, 300 reconnaissance drones, 120 MANPADS, 25 Marder 1A3 IFVs, 15 Leopard 1A5 MBTs, 14 artillery systems, 100 ground surveillance radars and ~ 100,000 155mm shells.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The German MoD also announced that further agreements are currently being made regarding the delivery of additional IRIS-T systems in the coming years. The delivery of 1100 ground surveillance radars is also on the cards.<\/p>\n\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n

Germany supports the establishment of a veterans’ space in Chernihiv<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The NGO \u201cSertsevir\u201d has opened a new veterans\u2019 space in Chernihiv in partnership with UNDP Ukraine and the German government. The project was made possible thanks to a thematic grant totalling over 80,000 dollars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The project was designed to support veterans and their families, as well as the families of the fallen and those reported missing. Among other goals and purposes, it aims to serve as a platform for engagement, knowledge exchange, and the provision of social, psychological, and legal assistance, while also encouraging civic participation.<\/p>\n\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n\n\n

Germany has been secretly paying for Eutelsat’s satellite internet for a year now<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Eutelsat\u2019s chief executive Eva Berneke told Reuters<\/a> that Eutelsat has provided Ukraine with its high-speed satellite internet for about a year, while the German government has borne the entire cost. This assistance has not yet been made public by the German government itself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Berneke, less than 1,000 terminals are connecting users in Ukraine to Eutelsat\u2019s network, while they are currently working on getting up to between 5,000 and 10,000 terminals and are in negotiations with the German government about financing the increase.<\/p>\n\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n

According to the German Ministry of Defence, Germany alone plans to provide around 500,000 of the total of 2 million artillery shells to be delivered to Ukraine by the EU within 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Of the approximately 500,000 artillery shells planned, Germany has already delivered 92,000 in the first three months of the year \u2014 consisting of 23,000 122mm HE shells and 69,000 155mm HE shells.<\/p>\n\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n

Germany and the EU have to reallocate \u20ac100 million<\/a> in funding at short notice to finance urgently needed repairs of damaged substations in Ukraine, as USAID funding for this and other projects has been cancelled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
